Compass Rose Collective is a Cape Town–based design studio that creates worlds for stage, screen, and events. Specialising in set design, props, and costumes, we collaborate with a network of skilled specialists to bring ambitious creative visions to life. Founders Heine van As and Nicola Hetz draw on their experience across theatre, film, and live productions to shape detailed, original work that is both imaginative and expertly crafted.
What was once a home-based business has evolved into a vibrant creative hub in the heart of Observatory, also home to Compass Rose Collective retail.
We champion ethical production, inclusive access, and collaborative creation. The studio balances empowering emerging talent while delivering world-class work across disciplines by working with a versatile team.
With a focus on sustainability and community upliftment, we provide hands-on training and work opportunities for aspiring creatives as well as create employment, exposure, and networking opportunities for some of South Africa's most talented designers.

CRC DESIGN & RETAIL
Compass Rose Collective is a boutique design studio & retail space specialising in thoughtfully curated , bespoke wardrobe, décor, and artisan-crafted goods. Blending creativity with functionality, CRC offers a unique shopping experience that reflects a passion for design, sustainability, and local craftsmanship. We also design & create custom sets, costumes, & props for film, theatre, & eventing clients.
